2026 is off to a historic start for AG Baby (Adekunle Gold), as he becomes the first artist to sell out the newly renovated National Theatre, Lagos, now known as the Wole Soyinka Centre.
On Thursday, December 26, 2025, Adekunle Gold made history by headlining the first major concert at the 3,500-capacity venue since its reopening in October 2025.
On January 1, 2026, AG Baby was presented with two plaques: one recognising the management and record label that organised the concert, and another honouring him as the first artist to headline and sell out the newly renovated National Theatre, solidifying his place in Nigerian music history.
The plaque for the record label reads:

The sold-out Adekunle Gold Live at the National Theatre show was backed by a full orchestra, blending classical arrangements with his signature Afrobeats sound to give fans a unique and elegant live music experience.
The night was filled with memorable moments, including appearances from Olamide, who introduced him on stage, as well as Davido, Adewale Ayuba, and Yinka Ayefele, adding star power and excitement to the evening.
Adekunle Gold moved confidently through his set, delivering hits enriched by orchestral arrangements that gave new depth and sophistication to his songs.
Addressing the audience, he shared a motivating message:
“Don’t stop dreaming, keep daring to be different, do everything on your own terms, and that’s how I am Eja Nla. See you next year.”
The concert was a significant milestone not only for the singer but also for the Wole Soyinka Centre, setting a benchmark for future large-scale live performances at the historic venue.
