Renowned Nigerian DJ and producer DJ Tunez has joined forces with Wizkid and South African hitmaker DJ Maphorisa to create a rich, cross-continental soundscape titled “SOUTH GIDI,” a project that celebrates the meeting point between Afrobeats and Amapiano, two of Africa’s most dynamic music movements.
The title itself tells a story “South Gidi” blends “Gidi,” the affectionate nickname for Lagos (Wizkid’s hometown), with “South,” a nod to Maphorisa’s South African roots.
The result is a three-track EP that captures the essence of unity, rhythm, and shared musical heritage between Nigeria and South Africa.
The project’s tracklist features:
- Money Constant (featuring Mavo)
- Abangani (featuring Daliwonga and Madumane)
- Fiesta Forever (featuring Zaba and Zeh McGeba)
Each song carries its own flavor, and DJ Tunez curates with his trademark soulful precision, ensuring the transitions flow like a late-night Lagos breeze. DJ Maphorisa, on the other hand, infuses the production with his unmistakable deep-house and Amapiano touch, grounding the sound in South Africa’s rhythmic authenticity.

At the heart of it all is Wizkid, whose vocals serve as the EP’s smooth and magnetic center. His calm delivery glides effortlessly across the piano-led beats, adding a touch of stardom and serenity to the collaboration.
The trio reportedly finalised the project during studio sessions in London in September 2025, with snippets of which made waves across social media, sending fans into anticipation.
With SOUTH GIDI, DJ Tunez, Wizkid, and DJ Maphorisa have crafted more than just a project; it’s a celebration of African unity through sound, where the streets of Lagos meet the clubs of Johannesburg, and rhythm becomes the universal language.
