Ruger Raises Security Alarm Ahead of Detty December: “Kidnapping Has Become a Full-Time Business”

Nigerian singer Ruger has issued a stern warning to citizens and visitors ahead of the fast-approaching festive season, expressing concern over what he described as an alarming surge in kidnappings across the country.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, the Asiwaju hitmaker expressed his concerns about public safety as Nigerians prepare for the annual Detty December festivities, a period marked by mass travel, concerts, and end-of-year celebrations.
“I’m scared for people this December. Kidnapping has become a full-time business in some parts of Nigeria, and it’s only gonna get worse this festive season,” Ruger wrote.
“People will travel back to their villages from abroad and from many other places in Nigeria. These bastards will strike hard.”
Ruger’s post quickly gained traction online, with many users echoing his concerns and calling for greater security measures as the holiday season approaches.
His remarks come amid growing reports of insecurity and abductions in several parts of the country, particularly along major highways.
The singer urged Nigerians to stay alert, plan travels carefully, and prioritize personal safety when attending social events or visiting family during the celebrations.
Ruger’s message serves as a sobering reminder that while Detty December is often synonymous with music, parties, and joy, ensuring one’s safety must remain the top priority this year.
