Ayra Starr Shares Hilarious Tour Stories: From Pizza-Eating Fans to Life Lessons on Stage

Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr is learning that not every stage moment comes with screaming fans, and she’s embracing the ride with humor.
Speaking with Capital XTRA, the 22-year-old star reflected on her international tour, sharing both the highs and the awkward-but-funny realities of performing to new audiences.
With a wide grin, Ayra recalled her time in Australia:
“Australia was fine. They loved Ayra.”
But the vibe was totally different in the American Midwest. The singer admitted many in the crowd had no clue who she was:
“We went to America, and it was like the Midwest, and they’ve never heard of me before in their lives,” she laughed, describing how one girl casually ate pizza in the front row while she performed.
Instead of feeling discouraged, Ayra Starr sees those moments as preparation for bigger stages ahead.
“I feel like God is just training me. Now there’s nowhere I can’t perform. I can perform at 90-year-old birthday parties. I can perform anywhere. I will be good.”
She also touched on the stark contrast between die-hard fans who sing every lyric and audiences who just stare blankly:
“It was a different experience, especially me when I’m used to people singing my song, and now I’m having people just looking at me like…” she joked, pulling a puzzled face that had the room laughing.
For Ayra Starr, it’s all part of the journey — proof that her charm and energy can light up any stage, whether it’s a buzzing arena in Sydney or a laid-back crowd in middle America.
