Wizkid sparks debate on social media with latest update

Grammy-winning Nigerian superstar Wizkid has set social media abuzz after sharing a series of thought-provoking updates on Snapchat, sparking speculation about their deeper meaning.
In the first post, the “Essence” crooner wrote, “Pray for happiness”, over a serene roadside snapshot, setting a pensive mood. Minutes later, he followed with a stark statement: “Dead, tired and burnt out souls!!” — a line many saw as a raw reflection on the toll of fame and success.
His final update added weight to the conversation: “Get everything, no happiness. No go be our portion! Amen.”
Though Wizkid did not explain, the posts have triggered a heated debate online. Some fans interpret them as a rare glimpse into the emotional challenges of global stardom, while others believe the messages subtly respond to an earlier social media update from fellow Nigerian star Burna Boy.

In other news, DJ Tunez shared the story of how his long-standing partnership with global Afrobeats superstar Wizkid began.
Speaking in a recent interview with BBC 1Xtra, DJ Tunez revealed that his journey to becoming Wizkid’s official DJ was rooted in his early efforts to promote African music within the diaspora community in the United States.
According to him, before his breakthrough in Nigeria, he had already carved out a space for himself in the US by hosting Afrocentric events that resonated strongly with Africans abroad.
“I was doing shows, curating vibes for the African diaspora the parties were big, the energy was crazy,” he said. “That was how the name DJ Tunez started spreading.”
