Spyro Reveals He Charges N20 Million for Performances in Nigeria, Opens Up on Beef with Ubi Franklin
Popular Nigerian singer Oludipe David, better known as Spyro, has disclosed that his performance fee in Nigeria is a whopping N20 million.
The “Who is Your Guy?” hitmaker revealed this while speaking candidly during an interview with Echo Room.
Spyro also took the opportunity to address his ongoing dispute with renowned Nigerian music manager Ubi Franklin, a close associate of Afrobeats star Davido.
According to Spyro, the issue with Ubi stemmed from a disagreement regarding payment for his performance at a major event.
The singer recounted the incident where Ubi, acting on behalf of Davido, approached him with a proposal for a performance. Spyro said he was informed that Davido wanted them to perform at fellow artist Iyanya’s birthday celebration. However, Ubi allegedly offered only N5,000 for each performer.
“I called him aside and said, ‘Bro, I don’t charge 5k. The least I charge in Nigerian currency is N20 million,’” Spyro explained.
When Spyro arrived at the event, he discovered that Davido was already performing on stage. Spyro was called up immediately to join, but he could not refuse due to the presence of many dignitaries.
“Afterwards, I had to dig it out with Ubi for my pay,” Spyro said, clearly frustrated by the situation.
Ubi Franklin, often referred to as Davido’s close confidant, is also known for his managerial role in the Nigerian music industry. He has frequently been mentioned in discussions around the logistics and management of top Nigerian artists.
