Street pop star Portable has once again sparked attention, this time over his signature face tattoos. Known for his bold look, the “Zazu” crooner has been the subject of comparisons with Grammy-nominated Nigerian artist Asake, who recently got his face tattoo. Fans quickly began drawing parallels between the two stars, but Portable is not flattered by the comparison.

In a blunt, no-nonsense video shared on his social media, Portable made it clear that he doesn’t want to be compared to Asake. Instead, he proudly stated that his face tattoo was inspired by none other than American hip-hop legend Lil Wayne, who is famous for his iconic facial ink.

“No dey use me compare Asake,” he declared in a mix of Yoruba and Pidgin English, making it clear that he does not resemble Asake. Rather, he insisted that his look aligns more closely with Lil Wayne, whom he sees as a true international superstar, much like himself.

Portable went on to address the comparison with Kodak Black, another artist known for his face tattoos, stating that he doesn’t resemble him either. Instead, he emphasized that his style is uniquely his and that Asake is the one copying him by getting similar facial art.

The controversial star also took the opportunity to boast about his growing success, referencing his recent deal with Sony Music, which he credits for facilitating royalties from his collaboration with British rapper Skepta. Portable expressed pride in his achievements, claiming that his uniqueness and success in both music and business set him apart from others.

“Stop copying me,” Portable warned other artists, adding that he is an innovator who has carved out his path in the industry. His blunt nature and unapologetic confidence continue to make headlines as he asserts his place in the music world.

As the debate over face tattoos continues, it’s clear that Portable remains unapologetically himself, drawing inspiration from the global stage while maintaining a fiercely independent identity.

“Don’t compare me to Asake, I don’t look like him. I look like Lil Wayne, I’m now an international superstar.”
