Blackface reveals 2Face declined collaboration on new album
Nigerian singer Blackface has revealed that his former bandmate 2Baba, declined to collaborate on his latest album, ‘The Return,’ to revive their iconic group, Plantashun Boiz.
During an interview with Television Continental (TVC), Blackface expressed his disappointment, stating that despite his attempts to reunite the group, 2Baba was unwilling to participate.
“I just released the Plantashun Boiz album called The Return, which has about 18 to 19 tracks. Faze contributed to the project, but 2Baba is not on the album because he’s not ready to be part of it,” Blackface shared. “We had opportunities to go to the studio, but they didn’t want it. If someone shows you they’re not interested, do you keep waiting or move on? So, I moved on.”
Blackface also highlighted his quest for acknowledgement, particularly after Kennis Music CEO Kenny Ogunde backed his claims regarding the controversies surrounding the hit song ‘African Queen.’ “I’m not asking for anything—just my respect,” Blackface stated. “I’ve invested so much in this industry for those benefiting from it today and the younger generation that followed. You can’t just erase my contributions.”
The rift between Blackface and 2Baba dates back to 2015, stemming from Blackface’s assertion that he wrote ‘African Queen,’ a song that brought 2Baba international fame. Despite Blackface extending an olive branch in October 2023, 2Baba’s absence from ‘The Return’ suggests the feud remains unresolved.
