Ancelotti Confident in Real Madrid’s Champions League Revival Amid Challenges
Carlo Ancelotti remains optimistic about Real Madrid’s chances of turning around their challenging Champions League campaign, despite the reigning champions currently facing significant setbacks.
According to journalist Alberto Cerruti, a close friend of the Italian coach, Ancelotti firmly believes Los Blancos will make it to the final once again.
Madrid’s journey to Champions League glory last season was crowned with a commanding 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund in the final at Wembley Stadium, solidifying their dominance after clinching the La Liga title. However, their current season has been far from smooth, with the team sitting 24th in the revamped Champions League standings following losses to Liverpool, AC Milan, and Lille.
Now, with just six points, Madrid is precariously positioned at the bottom of the playoff spots, narrowly ahead of Paris Saint-Germain, who have four points. To secure a place in the next round, Los Blancos must deliver strong performances in their upcoming matches against RB Salzburg and Brest.
Despite these challenges, Ancelotti remains confident in his squad’s ability to bounce back. Speaking through Cerruti on the Spanish radio program El Larguero, the journalist recounted the coach’s words: “Tell them anything, but the most important thing is that Madrid will be in the Champions League final in Munich.”
Injuries have compounded Madrid’s struggles this season, with Ballon d’Or runner-up Vinícius Júnior among the key players sidelined. Yet, Ancelotti remains hopeful that his team will rediscover their peak form and fight to defend their European crown.
While rivals Barcelona soar to third place in the standings, Madrid’s determination to reclaim their glory is evident as they prepare for a crucial phase of the competition.
