Odumodublvck describes how he used his mother as a falsehood to perform.
Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Gbubemi Ojogwu, widely known as Odumodublvck, shared a memorable story from his early career in a new documentary.
The rapper, who was recently nominated for “Best International Flow” at the BET Hip-Hop Awards, recounted a bold move he made during a major gig in Abuja to secure more performance time.
In the 18-minute documentary, produced by Nigerian content creator Ugobaby, Odumodublvck discussed an incident where his set was cut short at an important event.
Realizing that this performance was a crucial platform for him to make an impression in his hometown, he quickly devised a plan.
The rapper claimed he ran to the event organiser and lied, saying his mother was in the crowd and needed to see him perform one last song.
The organiser, fortunately, believed him, and he was allowed back on stage to finish his performance. Odumodublvck noted that this moment demonstrated his early dedication to his career.
Though the rapper didn’t mention the organiser’s name, Tobi Muhammed, popularly known as ‘Alhaji Popping’ of Mainland Bloc Party, confirmed the story on social media, praising Odumodublvck’s determination.
