Renowned artist Davido confidently asserted that his family plays a pivotal role in supplying electricity to a significant segment of Nigeria. He stated that his family possesses four power plants that play a substantial role in meeting Nigeria’s energy demands. Davido discussed his family’s business ventures and personal investments during an appearance on the American podcast “Business Untitled.”

He said, “I once tried to go into cryptocurrency because Nigeria is big on crypto. Apart from that, me and my family have like four power plants worth a lot of money. We distribute energy to most of Nigeria.

“My wife is into culinary. We are trying to start a restaurant for her. But my main business is what I love; my music.”

Despite hailing from a prosperous family with investments in the energy industry, Davido’s assertion that his family caters to the majority of Nigeria’s energy requirements is likely to face skepticism from many observers. The bulk of Nigeria’s significant thermal and hydropower facilities are government-owned, contradicting Davido’s claims.

During the podcast, Davido emphasized the value of his skill and competence in garnering recognition, stating firmly, “I got accepted for one reason, and that reason is that I am good, talented.” He stressed that without his inherent talent and musical proficiency, his background alone wouldn’t have secured his place in the industry.

Addressing the broader perception of wealth in Nigeria, Davido highlighted the presence of numerous billionaires in the country, some even wealthier than his father. However, he attributed his success to his personal values and unwavering commitment to his craft, emphasizing that financial privilege alone doesn’t guarantee success.
