Erling Haaland sends congratulatory message to Lionel Messi after Man City star misses out on Ballon d’Or to Argentine World Cup winner
After Lionel Messi of Argentina won his eighth Ballon d’Or on Monday, Erling Haaland congratulated him.
Despite losing the Ballon d’Or to the Argentine sensation in Paris on Monday, goal machine Haaland offered a congrats to Messi.
The striker from Norway said “Felicitaciones @LEOMESSI,” which translates to “Congratulations,” after sharing Messi’s Instagram story with the Golden Ball.
Haaland finished second behind the 36-year-old, who helped lead Argentina to the World Cup championship in Qatar last year, despite scoring an incredible 52 goals in all competitions and winning the treble with the Cityzens.
Messi appreciated Haaland’s achievements from the previous season and even suggested that the City star may have taken home the trophy this year after receiving the prized medal for the eighth time in his career.
