Afrobeats music icon D’Banj is set to take on the role of host for the inaugural Trace Africa Music Awards, scheduled to happen in Rwanda.

Joining D’Banj in hosting the inaugural Trace Awards is Angolan supermodel Maria Borges, and the event is slated to take place on October 21, 2023, at the BK Arena in Kigali, Rwanda.

This prestigious event, sponsored by Trace in collaboration with Pepsi, Martell Nigeria, Fly Rwanda Air, and BK Arena, will serve as a celebration of African music and talent. D’Banj and Maria Borges will add an air of sophistication to this celebration of African music.

The Trace Music Awards aim to recognize and honor the accomplishments and excellence within the African music industry.

The awards ceremony will showcase a diverse range of African-centric music genres, including Afrobeat, Dancehall, Hip Hop, Afro-pop, Mbalax, Amapiano, Zouk, Kizomba, R&B, Rumba, and more.

The event will be broadcast on Trace TV, providing a platform for the recognition of African artists and their contributions to the music industry.

A stellar lineup of performances is set to grace the stage, featuring artists such as Davido, Asake, Bamby, Yemi Alade, Benjamin Dube, Black Sherif, Blxckie, Bruce Melodie, Bwiza, Didi B, Distinct, Janet Otieno, Josey, Kalash, and Kizz Daniel from Nigeria.

Among the nominees, Nigerian superstars like Tiwa Savage, Ayra Starr, Nissi, Davido, Asake, Burna Boy, and Rema have received multiple nominations.

Notably, Asake, Davido, Rema, and Burna Boy are competing for the Best Male Artist category alongside Diamond Platnumz, Didi B, and K.O. It promises to be an unforgettable celebration of African music and talent.
