James Maddison unveiled as a Tottenham player after sealing transfer from relegated Leicester.
Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of James Maddison from Leicester on a long-term contract until the summer of 2028.
Following Leicester’s promotion to the Championship, Tottenham confirmed the signing of the offensive midfielder in a deal for £40 million ($50.5 million). Newcastle had also expressed interest in Maddison, but Spurs beat them to the punch and secured his signature on a deal that runs through 2028.
Maddison joins Guglielmo Vicario at Tottenham, where he was revealed as a new signing on Tuesday.
Newcastle had led the chase for the England international, but his arrival at Spurs has now been confirmed. According to BBC Sport, Harry Winks will join Leicester in a separate £10 million ($12.6 million) move.

Despite Leicester’s difficulties, which led to a shocking relegation to the Championship, Maddison stood out during the 2022–23 campaign. He had 30 appearances, 10 Premier League goals, 9 assists, and a skill set that none of his new colleagues at Spurs can match.
After making his debut in 2019, the 26-year-old also earned a spot in the England team, starting victories against Malta and Ukraine in March and June, respectively.
Maddison made his senior debut at home club Coventry when he was 17 years old. He later rose up the league standings with Norwich, scoring 14 goals in the Championship in 2017–18, earning a £20 million transfer to Leicester.
Throughout his stint with the team, the offensive midfielder had been an important member for the Foxes, and he appeared to become better every year. In both 2022–2023 and 2022–2022, he scored ten goals or more in the Premier League. He has also participated in the Europa League and Europa Conference League.
Maddison was a member of the 2021 FA Cup-winning Leicester team.
Maddison will be hoping to get some playing time under his belt before the 2023–24 season as Spurs gear up for their preseason trip of Australia.
We are delighted to announce the signing of James Maddison!
Let's go, Madders 🤍
