    Awards for contributions to national development are granted formally as National Honours Awards. The award recognizes all of an individual’s contributions to the nation in all fields of human endeavour.

    For the great work put up in the music industry and their immense contribution to the growth of the country, some Nigerian artists have been honoured with these awards. The awards are categorized into three:

    OON –  Officer of the Order of the Niger

    MFR – Member of the Order of the Federal Republic

    MON – Member of the Order of the Niger

    The self-acclaimed African Giant aka Burna Boy was conferred the award of the Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) by the past president, Buhari on the same date as 2Baba’s.

    Teni

    Also, the Billionaire crooner, Teniola Apata, aka Teni, was added to the list on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, when she was named a Member of the Order by President Muhammadu Buhari.

    Victor Olaiya

    Victor Abimbola Olaiya was a Nigerian trumpeter and musician who was popular for his highlife music. The government of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo honoured Olaiya with the national distinction of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) in 2001 in recognition of both his musical skill and his contribution to the development of the country.

    KWAM1

    The fuji maestro, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, also known as KWAM 1,  was awarded the title of Member of the Order of the Niger (MON) by former President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday, October 11, 2022.

    Credibly, he is the first of his Fuji counterparts to earn and be honoured with this award.

    Davido

    A few days before the swearing of the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, David was bestowed the award of the Officer Of The Order of The Niger (OON) by former president Muhammadu Buhari.

    Tiwa Savage

    On the same day as Davido’s honour, Tiwa Savage secured the same award as her counterpart. She was bestowed, Officer Of The Order of The Niger (OON) by former president Muhammadu Buhari.
