The DMW frontman, Davido has obviously changed the Nigerian music industry’s narrative with his collaborations, here’s why!

To some, Davido is a merry-maker, to others, their benefactor, while to the Nigerian music industry, Davido is a game-changer, and this has he established since his inception in 2010.

Mp3bullet.ng elucidates on some of the hottest reasons Davido changed the Nigerian music industry’s narrative with his collaborations.

Going down the memory lane of 2014, a glimpse on some of Davido’s impact includes, Lil Kesh’s “Shoki Remix“, 2015’s Kizz Daniel’s Woju Remix et al; Davido has always possessed a unique ability to brighten a track, despite it being an established or hit sound.

His vocal imprints to the remixes of these songs were felt, and it certainly broadened the horizon of the songs’ reach!

Of late, this attribute has exploded into a nature that calls the attention of every artiste to “wanting” him as a feature.

For a fact, this impute goes both ways- as a featured artiste and as a hit-maker himself! Also, this is not restricted to walls of the Afrobeat bearers, but the international music space.

Still emphasizing his impact through collaborations, take a study at the careers of his proteges – Mayorkun, Peruzzi, Dremo, and so on, he always gave them a hit song which he either featured on or features them.

Like the raving “Best” with Mayorkun, to ‘Somebody Baby‘ by Peruzzi, and a host of others.

Using this to great advantage, Davido’s music career has been in a major spotlight for a decade now, winning multiple awards back-to-back and bagging numerous endorsement deals.

Exploring his own collaborations, Davido always goes for the big catch, scouting the dynamism of other musical genres sung by the prodigies.

A very good instance was his Blow My Mind hit song featuring pop star, Chris Brown. It was a plain sailing vibe of Afrobeat and R&B.

Till now, that song is recorded as one of the hottest songs from any Nigerian-international collaborations.

Highlights of some achievements through collaborations Davido had this year

In the early part of the year, Davido, decided to try out his prowess on the raving Amapiano sound by ushering his vocals on Focalistic’s “Ke Star Remix“.

The South African youngster surely got a parching boost in his career. It was a global acceptance that launched him into the Nigerian market, which as a matter of fact is one of the hardest to crack.

In the light of its blossom bang, it won the Best Collaboration at the 2021 AFRIMMA.

Furthering their bond, Davido enlisted him on one of his songs, “Champion Sound“.

Respectively, Davido hopped on Adekunle Gold’s hit groove, “High“; a sensational Amapiano beat with a touch of funky vibes.

Till now, almost every fan describes Davido’s entry verse as the spotlight of the song. It was that climax of the tune that certified it into an instant hit. Modulating his way into the hearts of their listeners, Davido made this song a global smack!

It has not won an award recently, however, it debuted on Billboard Chart, sitting at number 7 a couple of months back. This is certainly an achievement!

Likewise, he touched down on Zlatan’s Cho Cho single – a street hop melody with ‘swaggercious’ vibes!

Other top songs Davido has made appearances this year include; Small Doctor’s ManDeMan, Liya’s Lakiriboto, Teni’s For You, Tion Wayne’s Who’s True, etc. Making him one of the most featured Nigerian artistes of the year.

In a nutshell, Davido has not only impacted the Nigerian music industry through his music, but he has also changed the narrative in retrospect to the kinds of collaborations he engages in; producing a variety of sounds, genres, and oscillations.
