Afrobeats Superstar, Davido spoke with DJ Carisma on ‘Checc’d In Carisma‘ on Power 106, LA, California on August 6, 2021.
Davido discussed a variety of topics during the interview, including his album, “A Better Time”, upcoming acting gigs, his kids and others.
The video for ‘Shopping Spree,’ which featured Chris Brown and Young Thug, was released on July 16, 2021. However, Davido said that the video was shot in 2020, following the release of his album A Better Time, but that he decided to hold off on releasing it until Summer 2021.
Davido is renowned for keeping his finger on the pulse of the music industry. When asked how he is able to persuade people like Nicki Minaj to appear on his record, he answered,
“I think the biggest thing in anything you do… Whether it’s music, fashion, movies, food, politics… I think the biggest people in that field have to pay attention.
“I pay attention… I got a phone just like you. It surprises people when people realize that I pay attention but I do.”

When it came to the album’s cover art, Davido explained that having his son on the album’s cover easily resonates with his album title, considering his previous album was titled A Good Time.
When Carisma inquired if he was done having children, Davido responded “Hopefully (laughs).”
Furthermore, Davido expressed his disappointment at having to cancel his ‘A Good Time Tour‘ due to COVID-19 when everything was going well “for the first time,” and stated that he hopes to organize an arena tour in 2022.

“Hopefully do one more project this year… We’re almost done,” he said, adding that the album will be released before December 2021.
Davido then disclosed that ‘Fall’ was a gamechanger for him after he convinced the label to pick the record over four other records.
He also said that he wants to pursue a career in acting.
