Nigerian Singer, Seyi Shay has paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Sound Sultan, who, she revealed, had a major impact on her growth and music career.
Seyi Shay spoke about their friendship before his death at the 7-day Firdaus Prayer for the late artist. Sound Sultan, she said, embodied kindness, love, and what a father should be.
She told an emotional story about how Sound Sultan phoned her in a difficulty and how reports about her saying this and that was flying around.
She claims that the singer urged her to write down what she said and give it to him so that he could defend her outside whenever her name was mentioned.
She said that she had cried after that emotionally draining task and told him that she would change for the better. Take a look at the video below.

She also revealed that her brand was created by Sound Sultan and Cecil and that she will be eternally grateful to them. She promised the “Jagbanjantis” crooner that she would look after his family and that she would always make him proud.
Read her letter to the Late Sound Sultan;
“Aboo @faridafasasi said you waited for me , guess you couldn’t hold on any longer. I only had 1 more episode to do though… guess that’s why they didn’t wanna tell me.
In hindsight it was your spirit that even got me through the show that fateful Sunday. I guess the same way our Nigerian basket ball team beat USA (your spirit was definitely on that Court) ???????????????????????????????? You lived an exemplary life.
You were Humble and you were there for everyone, every time. No excuses. You brought me to Nigeria and you and Cecil created Seyi Shay. That was in 2012. You have been my guardian and Godfather ever since. Baba my mentor, my confidant, my small daddy, my defender, my peace, my brother and my inspiration…
The only one that never EVER judged me. You forgave me and welcomed me home with open arms when I went astray. You were such a nice and peaceful man. Simple but profound in every way.
I’ll miss our midnight Indomie sessions, Xmas and birthdays. I’ll miss your wit and your sarcasm. I’ll miss your honesty with me. Ill miss your fatherly hugs, smiles and the fatherly discipline you gave me. You are an inspiration to a whole generation !! your music, comedy, productions, philanthropy and intellect.
I’ll make you proud again Baba and I’ll keep my end of the bargain ???????????? Thank you for giving me Aboo and the kids as my own. At least I won’t feel alone… You are Forever in my heart and at the beginning of my story. Cheers to a Happy ending ???? RIP @soundsultan”
