Nigerian singer, Rema has reacted to the Nigerian Government banning the Special Anti-Robbery Squad and other tactical police squads from carrying routine patrols.
This ban came as a result of outrage from Nigerians over the incessant harassment and killings from Sars.
The Nigerian Presidency via their Verified Twitter account wrote;
“All FSARS, STS, IRT & other Tactical @PoliceNG Squads operating at Federal, Zonal & Command levels are hereby BANNED from carrying out routine patrols & other conventional low-risk duties – stop & search duties, checkpoints, roadblocks, traffic checks, etc – WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT”
However, Mavin Record act, Rema isn’t buying the Government’s act as he responded to the tweet with;
“To me, they did not really ‘barn SARZ’ they’re just gonna put the same officers in another uniform under a different unit. All this doings na to calm us down.”
He joins several other celebrities that are calling for the end of Sars.
