Nigerians Slam Dice Ailes over the Sarah Baartman artwork he used as the cover of his latest song “Ginika”.
After his song “Alakori” in which he featured Falz the bad guy, Dice Ailes decided to bless us with a new tune.
This new single is titled “Ginika” and in the song, he celebrates the beauty and qualities of African women, especially their “backside”
It, however, seems that the chocolate city artist didn’t make quality research before making use of the artwork as his actions were highly shamed.
The artwork is one portraying Sarah Baartman also known as Saartjie or the Hottentot Venus.
Saartije suffered from steatopygia, so she had excess fatty tissue around her hip. This was during a dark time of black history as she was used as a sex slave for whites. They would mock, parade beat, and forcefully have sex with her.
Sarah Baartman was hypersexualized until she died.
To date, many still associate her tragic life with the fetishization and hypersexualization of curvy black women by the whites.
Although her figure portrays the message he’s trying to pass with the song, people think it is an insult to her legacy.
Ever since the cover was released, Dice has danced to the tunes of many insults thrown at him especially on Twitter.
The “Otedola” singer however tendered a public apology, but the rate of backlash is yet to reduce.

See reactions below;
Most Nigerian artistes are ignorant, and dice Aile is a typical example.
The lady he used as his picture cover for ginika is Sarah baartman a black slave with big butt that was sexual abused from a tender age till her death, the white would beat her up and forcefully have sex pic.twitter.com/aOOBraz8iM— def gunzify(𓃵): (@007Soja) October 31, 2019
Dice Ailes, you should know it's inappropriate to use Sarah Baartman's picture.
It's either you don't read or know history, or your clout chasing game is above 100.
You should fix this. https://t.co/CwCegDu10i

Sarah Baartman was used, ridiculed and eventually mutilated for scientific research but we’re still mutilating her memory in the name of Afrobeats.
I’m not the most conscious of them all, but if you’re ignorant and get called out, the ideal thing is to fix up.— Ajijobo 1 (@THETemmieOvwasa) October 31, 2019
