Carlo Ancelotti dubbed Vinicius Junior ‘the best in the world’ & offers an update on Karim Benzema injury.
Vinicius Junior was praised by Carlo Ancelotti as “the greatest in the world” after Real Madrid eliminated Liverpool from the Champions League.
The Brazilian winger was outstanding in both halves of the round of 16 match against Liverpool, who lost 6-2 overall.
Three weeks ago, he scored twice in the first leg at Anfield, then in the 78th minute of the second leg, he gave Karim Benzema the game-winning assist.
After his team’s 1-0 victory at Santiago Bernabeu, Madrid boss Ancelotti singled out Vinicius for praise and voiced his opinion that the 22-year-old has attained the pinnacle of the game.
“For me, he’s the best in the world,” Ancelotti told reporters after the match. “Today he didn’t score, but he played very well and provided a goal.”

After missing the Spanish Liga match against Espanyol last weekend, Benzema started against Liverpool.
Throughout the entire game, the striker and Vinicius were causing problems for Liverpool’s defence. But, after Virgil van Dijk collided with him in the build-up, the striker was seen pulling up as he celebrated his goal.
The Frenchman was taken off soon after but Ancelotti is hopeful that it’s not a serious knock. “It’s a blow, nothing more. I hope there will be no problems,” he stated.
Vinicius and Kylian Mbappe are the only two players to have scored and assisted on 10-plus goals (13 goals and 10 assists) during the course of the previous three Champions League seasons (21 goals and 11 assists).
In a crucial Clasico matchup in La Liga on Sunday, Los Blancos will make their comeback against Barcelona, and Liverpool will play Manchester City on April 1 after the break.
