No plans to retire! Luka Modric hoping to sign a new contract at Real Madrid.
Despite the fact that Luka Modric will turn 38 later this year, he says he hopes to sign a new deal with Real Madrid because he has no plans to retire soon.
At the end of the current campaign, Modric’s Real Madrid contract expires, but he has no intention of hanging up his boots just yet. According to the Croatian international, he is working hard to get a contract extension at Santiago Bernabeu.
“I am doing everything I can to give my best and deserve the chance to continue here. I can’t do more, I have always had a very good relationship with the club and that’s not going to change,” he said.

“Just like last year, there’s no rush, we’re halfway through the season and there are many challenges ahead. I’m focused on that, on getting back to my best level, let’s see what happens.”
While approaching the conclusion of his career, Modric is still an important player for Carlo Ancelotti’s team. This season, he has played in all but one of Madrid’s La Liga games and has six goals in all competitions.
On Tuesday, Liverpool will host Ancelotti’s team at Anfield for the opening leg of their Champions League round of 16 matchup.
