Zlatan Ibile and Teni the Entertainer, two young acts whose music career progressed massively in 2019
There is no doubt that 2019 has indeed been a very wonderful year for these two artists, as they have released massive hits this year, and successfully won the hearts of many Nigerian music lovers.
Both artists have also made world tours, released a mega album, and won big awards.
Though they do different genres of music, they’re both incredibly gifted in what they do.
Now, these two have different beautiful stories, so I beg to proceed with Teni. As they say, ladies first! (Lol).
Teni.
Christened Teniola Apata, Teni is a 26-year old vocally talented singer and songwriter. She is also the younger sister of fellow singer and Afrobeats Queen; Niniola Apata
The Afro-pop singer studied Business Administration at American Intercontinental University.
She is currently signed to Dr. Dolor entertainment and has successfully dominated the Nigerian music industry in 2019
Teni started gaining the attention of people when she de dropped her 2017 single; “Fargin”
She, however, gained full recognition in 2018 when she dropped her songs “Askamaya“, “Uyo Meyo” and “Case“, especially case which was a mega-hit at that time. In 2018, Teni won “Rookie of the year” at The Headies Award.
This year, Teni recorded back-to-back hits like; “Billionaire“, “Superwoman”, and “Power Ranger“. Her recent single “Billionaire” currently topping charts on all streaming platforms.
The singer also took home four mega awards at this year’s Headies. She won; Best recording of the year, Viewer’s Choice, Best pop single, and Best female vocal performance for her song; “Uyo Meyo”.
She also held a very successful world tour where she stopped by 20 cities which include Lagos, London, Ottawa, Cyprus, and so on. This tour which was themed “Teni Live” began in February and ended by may.
Aside from these awards, the “Billionaire” Hitmaker also bagged two multi-million endorsement deals from “Tom Tom” and “Pepsi”.
Surely, this year is a remarkable one for Teni’s music career.
Now, it’s time to talk about the Zanku king;
Zlatan Ibile.
Omoniyi Temidayo Rapheal aka Zlatan Ibile is a fast-rising rap star, singer, songwriter, and street sensation. He is also a graduate of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic in Ogun State and holds an HND( Higher National Diploma) in business administration.
The 24-year-old Ekiti state music star is undoubtedly one of the fast-rising music stars who changed the game in this year’s music industry, especially in the streets.
He first an introduction into the music industry with his debut song; “My body” featuring Olamide, and was featured on Chinko Ekun’s “Able God“. however, he was not really popular as at then.
The rapper fully came into the limelight late 2018 when he released his hit single “Zanku”(Legwork). He is also the Originator of the popular spicy Zanku dance.
Zanku is an acronym created by him which means; “Zlatan Abeg Nor Kill Us”. He has also been featured by many top Nigerian musicians like; Davido, Dj Cuppy, Naira Marley, and he successfully added a magical touch to their tunes.
In early 2019, Zlatan backed Zanku’s success with “This year“, and his smashing hit “Killin them“, a collaboration with Burna Boy. Soon, he bagged himself a mega-deal with “Coca Cola”.
Zlatan continues to drop hits back to back as the year runs out. These songs include; “Shotan” ft Tiwa Davage, “Bolanle”, “Yeye Boyfriend”, and so on.
Although he was nominated at this year’s headies award, he didn’t win but laughed last at AFRIMMA19. At this event, he took three awards home He won; Best New Act, Best Collabo, and Song of the year.
The “Gbeku” singer also dropped his debut album “Zanku” this year, and it was a massive success.
By now, I’m sure you guys understand what I mean by placing these two music gods as a case study in 2019.
