Zlatan Ibile, didn’t only become our favorite boy, after his ‘sleek’ run, last summer, he also became an icon on the streets, creating a legacy, in ‘street music’, doing stuff that only greats like Olamide and Reminisce have been able to pull off. He definitely deserves more than next rated, at this time.
His meteoric rise to mainstream success has left many baffled, and he’s definitely a sensation. I mean, not just any body sings about stuff, and have EFCC looking for him. And also not every body can make the street go gaga, every single time they get on the mic!
Quickly, as a sequel to our “Facts You Don’t Know” series, here on Mp3bullet, here are seven facts you probably don’t already know about the “Zanku” singer.

HE’S 24.
Zlatan’s such a big dawg, you might wanna think he’s thirty, but the street artiste, isn’t even close. Born Temidayo Omoniyi, he’s just about the same age as most of the hot guys around (Lil Kesh, Reekado Banks, Kizz Daniel et al.) Olamide is still his big brother, after all.
CODED TUNES
While details of his deal with ID Cabasa’s record label, Coded Tunes, are unknown, it is true that the rapper was actually signed to the Label, back in 2014. Even ‘til 2016, he was still being referred to as Coded Records signee. That was of course before his big break with the viral hit, “Zanku”.
Coded Tunes, in the past has been home to YBNL boss, Olamide Baddo and Kida Kudz, amongst others. 9ice, Lord of Ajasa have been associated with ID Cabasa. But, yeah, Zlatan was once signed to ID Cabasa’s label.
HIP-HOP
Today, Zlatan Ibile is just a street singer doing his stuff, for the street. But before he was a star, the young artiste was a hip-hop artiste, and battle rapper. In 2014, at 19, he won an Airtel One Mic contest, which had judges that include Reminisce and ID Cabasa. Winning the competition back then was actually how he got signed to Cabasa’s imprint.
On many of his old tracks, too, his rap prowess is very evident, and he was a fierce rapper. “Zanku” changed everything, though.
OLA DIPS
In those days, when Zlatan was coming up, Oladips was one of his ‘associated acts’ and they often collaborated, in the past. He was on one of Oladips’ hot single, “Ringtone” back in 2014. In 2016, Zlatan also tapped the LRR rapper for “Kara Wizard.”
Earlier this year, DJ 4Kerty also brought back that Zlatan and Oladips union, on single “Again O.” Before Naira Marley became a regular customer to Zlatan, Oladips was one of the guys he worked with. He was probably inspired by Dips.
IKORODU BOY
Zlatan Ibile is a full breed Ikorodu boy, and he never hesitates to declare his love for his city, whenever he gets the chance. On tracks like “Ikorodu Boy” and “Ni Ikorodu” he’s constantly repped Ikorodu. This makes him one of the numerous talented guys who came from Ikorodu. Isn’t it amazing that shaku-shaku pioneer, Slimcase is also from Ikorodu?
MAPOLY GRAD
Zlatan actually went to school. According to diggings, the 24-year-old “My Body” singer, attended Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, in Ogun State, where he was said to have studied Business Administration. In fact, he was studying at MAPOLY when he won the Airtel One Mic competition that first brought him to limelight.
YAHOO BOY
For long, there have been speculations and rumors flying around that the rapper is a ‘yahoo boy’. Given that, on many of his songs he always use terminologies associated to the fraudulent crime, it’s not hard for people to believe he’s probably into the act.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission recently released him, after his arrest alongside his frequent collaborator and friend, Naira Marley.
