I narrowly escaped death – Yung6ix narrates how he survived robbery in Los Angeles

Nigerian rapper Yung6ix, whose real name is Onome Onokohwomo, has shared a chilling account of a near-death experience during an armed robbery attack in Downtown Los Angeles on Saturday 25th of January 2025.
The rapper took to social media to recount the harrowing incident, revealing that he narrowly escaped being shot by an assailant. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), written in a mix of English and pidgin, Yung6ix expressed gratitude for his survival, acknowledging the intervention of divine forces.
Describing the attack as “mind-boggling,” the US-based rapper explained how the bullet fired by the attacker passed close by him while he was in his car. “Na where the bullet pass we still dey find, cuz I was in the car,” Yung6ix shared, reflecting on the close call. He further credited his escape to the power of his mother’s prayers, thanking God for sparing his life.
“I just wanna thank God for working harder than satan. They just tried to rob me in DTLA. F*ck my car up. Never been this shocked in a minute. I’m grateful. Mama’s prayers working,” he wrote. “I thought this guy was gonna kill me bro, I swear on blood of Jesus. God forbid, na so I for just go yesterday? God is definitely working overtime for me.”
This terrifying ordeal comes just days after another Nigerian celebrity, DJ Big N (Nonso Temisan Ajufo), shared his own robbery experience.
The disc jockey was attacked during a visit to South Africa, where he was shot in the leg and had valuable items worth $114,000 stolen.
Unlike Yung6ix, DJ Big N sustained injuries and was hospitalized, but he also credited divine intervention and his mother’s prayers for his survival.
Both Yung6ix and DJ Big N’s recent experiences highlight the dangers of robbery attacks faced by public figures, with both artists expressing deep gratitude for the protection they believe was provided by a higher power.
