Video as Teni teaches US singer Fridayy pidgin, he speaks after her
Talented singer and songwriter Teniola Apata, popularly known as Teni, has revealed her new mission to spread Nigeria’s pidgin beyond the country’s borders.
Teni, who recently garnered attention for a video of her aboard a plane, was seen alongside Francis Leblanc, also known as Fridayy, a Haitian-American singer, songwriter, and record producer based in the US.
In the studio, Teni and Fridayy appeared to be collaborating on a new project, with Teni taking on the role of a pidgin teacher. The “Suger Mummy of Lagos” instructed Fridayy on the nuances of speaking pidgin, emphasizing the importance of attitude.
She advised the singer, “To speak pidgin, you need to have attitude,” before teaching him common pidgin phrases like “How far now” and “I dey.”
In another clip, Teni attempted to explain the meaning of the pidgin phrase “everywhere don burst.”
Sharing the video, Teni expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “PIDGIN 101 WITH @fridayy very soon the world go Dey speak pidgin.”
This suggests her intention to popularize Nigerian pidgin globally through her collaboration with Fridayy.
