A Documentary was released talking about the life of Nigerian superstar Wizkid before he became famous.
A very catchy documentary was released narrating the life of Wizkid before he came into the limelight. This narration was done by a Canadian presenter, Micheal Mccrudden.
Nigerian-International singer,” Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun” popularly known as Wizkid was born on the 16th of July 1990.
According to him, he grew up in the ghetto part of Ojuelegba, Surulere, Lagos.
Wizkid is from an extended family. His father had three wives, he had twelve female siblings
Music was already a big part of wizkid’s life since he was very young as he grew up listening to music from legends like; Bob Marley, Fela Kuti, etc.
Wizkid started writing songs at a very young age under the name Lil prince. He also had a church group called “The Glorious Five”. They dropped an album for the church, before splitting.
After, the split, he became “Wizkid”. He would go to studios and watch how music was made. He was mentored by singer Naeto C at the age of 15.
Later on, he met M.I Abaga in Lagos.. the two were close friends. Wizkid had a feature in M.I’s album.
Through M.I, Wizkid met Banky W, who signed him to a record label he co-owned; EME. By this time, he was in the university, however, he dropped out.
Soon, WIzkid became a household name.
He, however, left the record label and created his own; Starboy Entertainment.
Now, Wizkid is internationally recognized!!
