Wizkid has recorded another feat as his album, Made in Lagos, has surpassed one billion total streams less than a year after its global release.
Since its release last year, Wizkid’s Made in Lagos album has surpassed one billion overall streams has also become the first and fastest Afrobeat album to attain such achievement.
Last year, Big Wiz released Made in Lagos to mixed reviews. Many people were unsure where the record should be placed, but as time passed, the effort proved to be well worth its weight in gold.
The song Essence, which features Tems, elevated the album’s perception to new heights.
As it has climbed higher and higher on various charts, Essence has essentially become the song of the summer around the world.

Wizkid’s Made in Lagos has already surpassed 1 billion streams, making it one of the most-streamed albums in African history.
True Love, Smile, Reckless, and even the Damian Marley-assisted Blessed are among the project’s other standout tracks, helping to propel the album to the top.
The Grammy Award winner has been on tour in the United Kingdom for a few weeks now, and the response and support have been overwhelming, with international artists such as Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, Alicia Keys, and Swizz Beatz, to name a few, attending his shows.
