Music star; Wizkid; becomes the first Nigerian Artist to bag a Soul Train Award.
The “Joro” singer made history as he becomes the first-ever Nigerian to win a Soul Train award.
This year’s edition of the award took place in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Sunday the 18th of November 2019.
Several singers from all over the world won this prestigious award and our very own Starboy was one of them.
Wizkid won for his collaboration with Beyonce on the smash hit “Brown skin girl” which was off her “The lion king; The gift” album.
The song won under “The Ashford & Simpson’s Songwriter Award“, although it was also nominated for the “Best Collaboration category.”.
Writers of the song include; Beyoncé Knowles, Carlos St. John, Adio Marchant, Shawn Carter, Stacy Barthe, Anathi Mnyango, Michael Uzowuru, Ayodeji Balogun and Richard Isong
This is, however, the second time Wizkid was nominated in this award. In 2017 he was nominated for his song “Come Closer” ft Drake but didn’t win.
The singer, however, emerges victorious this time
