See the reasons why Olamide is one of the greatest rappers ever.
Olamide Adedeji aka Badoo is a superbly talented rapper who redefined street music and changed the rap game in the Nigerian Music Industry.
He is also one of the major pioneers in what we refer to as the “Yoruba new school rap”, which was initially originated by the late Dagrin.
Badoo got major recognition after releasing his hit single “Eni Duro”, which charted several radio stations in Lagos.
After this major breakthrough, he did several collaborations with numerous artists, including Wizkid, 9ice, Reminisce, and others.
In 2011, the rap star joined ID Cabasa’s label; Coded Tunes record.
The rapper, however, left for his own label; YBNL. In 2012. Olamide set YBNL at the age of 21, only a true legend can make such bold moves without fear of failure.
YBNL as of now is one of the biggest record labels in the country that has produced several talented top-class artists like; Adekunle gold, Lil kesh, Davolee, Chinko Ekun, and just recently, Fireboy DML.
Recently, new artists have risen, and are Making names especially when in the street music scenario.
Despite the rise of these artists, Badoo wasn’t threatened and never relented in dropping chart-topping hits back to back.
Some of these songs include; “Durosoke“, “Story for the gods”, “melo melo“, “Bobo”, “wavy level”, “Wo”,“Scence student”, “Woske“,“Oil & gas“,and so on.
His song “Who you epp“ became a street slogan the moment it dropped, and attracted several covers all around the world.
Olamide is also one of, if not the greatest Nigerian rapper with the highest number of awards. The Street king has over 26 awards to his name, some of which we cannot recollect.
They include;
*Best indigenous artiste category in 2013 Nigerian Entertainment Award.

Besides these awards, Olamode also got himself several big endorsements with mega-brands like Guinness, and Network Company; Etisalat turned 9 mobile.
The hitmaker has also introduced thrilling and notable dance steps that have added color to the history of Nigerian music and arts.
These steps include; “Shakiti Bobo”, and the well known unfading, “Shaku Shuku”
Apart from his mad rap skills, Olamide also has dope songwriting skills. A strong proof of his unique talent in writing is Tiwa Savage’s “49-99”. The song is not just a hit because of the melody, but because of the creative lyrics, it contains.
Many people even claim Olamide co-wrote Tiwa’s new song; “Owo mi da“, because it has this special Olamide feeling to it.
Another strong quality that makes the rapper a legend is his ability to step down for young artists to grow.
For the past two years, the singer hasn’t been given any major award. Not because he wasn’t fit to win, because we all know he is, but because he purposely did not submit any of his songs for nominations.
The rapper is well known for raising young acts, and continuously showing them love instead of engaging in competition with them.
All these Qualities, all these accolades, all these achievements! to one person!
I believe that by now, you understand that we’re just stating the obvious fact when we say Olamide is a rap legend.
I rest my case.
