Usher To Receive Lifetime Achievement Award At 2024 BET Awards
Amercain superstar Usher is set to receive the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2024 BET Awards, scheduled for June 30. The announcement, made by BET’s EVP of Specials, Music Programming, and Music Strategy, Connie Orlando, underscores the iconic artist’s immense contributions to music and culture.
Connie Orlando emphasized Usher’s enduring relationship with the network, praising his chart-topping hits, electrifying performances, and unmatched talent. She expressed anticipation for an extraordinary tribute to honor Usher’s global impact and Black excellence.
The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes artists who have made significant contributions to music and public service. Past recipients include iconic figures such as Prince, Whitney Houston, Queen Latifah, Samuel Jackson, and Mary J. Blige. Usher’s forthcoming accolade further solidifies his status as a legendary figure in the music industry.

In addition to receiving the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award, Usher has been nominated in four categories at this year’s BET Awards. He’s contending for Best Male R&B/Pop Artist, alongside notable artists such as Drake, Chris Brown, Brent Faiyaz, Bryson Tiller, and Burna Boy.
Furthermore, his album “COMING HOME” is in the running for Album of the Year. It faces stiff competition from Gunna’s “a Gift & a Curse,” 21 Savage’s “american dream,” Victoria Monét’s “JAGUAR II,” Killer Mike’s “MICHAEL,” Nicki Minaj’s “Pink Friday 2,” and Brown’s “11:11.”
The BET Awards ceremony will showcase performances by GloRilla, Latto, Muni Long, Sexyy Red, Shaboozey, and Monét, with surprise guests lined up to pay homage to Usher’s illustrious career.
Usher’s upcoming “USHER: PAST PRESENT FUTURE Tour” is set to kick off on Aug. 14 in Atlanta, with subsequent stops in cities such as Philadelphia, Boston, Austin, Charlotte, Chicago, and Detroit. The tour will also extend to the U.K. and Europe in April 2025. Fans can anticipate an unforgettable experience celebrating Usher’s past, present, and future in music.
