The United Nations has Spoken on D’banjs ambassadorship claims as he is hit with a career-threatening rape scandal.

D'banj Set To Release New Song On Friday

Speaking on the artist’s ambassadorship claims while responding to Puch newspaper in an Email chat,  the Director of Information, United Nations Information Centre for Nigeria, Joseph Kayanja said that D’banj has never been a United Nations Youth Ambassador for Peace.

According to Kayanja, The title accorded to him was by an obscure UN youth association which has nothing to do with the United Nations.

It will be recalled that D’Banj’s publicists had i 2012 claimed that the musician was the first Nigerian to be appointed a UN Youth Ambassador for Peace.

in the heat of the rape allegations against D’Banj by Seyitan Babatayo, an online petition was started calling on the UN to strip the musician of the title.

Reacting to Punch’s Inquiry on D’banj’s ambassadorship status, Kayanja wrote:

“I would like to confirm that the said Mr. Oladapo Oyebanjo aka D’Banj is NOT a UN Ambassador. The title was accorded to him by an obscure UN youth association which has nothing to do with the United Nations. I hope this clarifies.”
