Jude Bellingham reveals what he told Erling Haaland after Borussia Dortmund stifle Manchester City.
Jude Bellingham enjoyed some post-game banter with Erling Haaland and was pleased with Borussia Dortmund’s tenacious rearguard performance against Manchester City on Tuesday night.
After a scoreless draw in Germany, both teams advanced to the knockout rounds of the Champions League, with Pep Guardiola’s squad moving on as group champions despite Riyad Mahrez’s missed penalty.
Haaland was making his first trip back to Signal Iduna Park since joining the Etihad in the summer, but he only played the opening 45 minutes before being substituted at halftime.
The English star made headlines in the reverse match when he was overheard yelling, “F**k sake, mate,” to his former teammate after scoring a late winner. The Norwegian made a beeline towards Bellingham after the game, and the two once again enjoyed a laugh on the field.
At the Etihad, Haaland had netted an incredible, acrobatic volley to secure all three points as City came from behind after Bellingham opened the scoring.

Despite the fact that neither player scored on Tuesday night, Bellingham, who had scored in each of his previous four European matches, was eager to remind Haaland of his own scoring heroics in the Champions League this year.
When asked what they discussed this time and what they had previously discussed at the Etihad, which was delivered in somewhat less colourful terms, Bellingham told BT Sport:
‘I don’t think I said it like that but yeah! Obviously it is nice to keep all of them [City players] out, but obviously him in particular because we know how dangerous he is.
‘I said to him at the end of the game, “We’re 1-1 now on goals!”. So I’m not too satisfied because I haven’t scored either! But of course we got the draw and that’s what we needed from the game and we’re just happy to go through really so we can carry on this journey.’
On managing to shut out City’s star-studded attack, Bellingham added: ‘It is good for us on that side of the game, defensively we were really good and not many sides keep clean sheets against City with the quality they have got.
‘To do that is a positive aspect but I think we could have gone for it a bit more, we had some chances to win the game. But we have to grateful in the end because they missed a penalty and Greg [Kobel] made a huge save.’
