Ubi Franklin blasts Samklef for making fun of Davido’s Grammy loss

Talent manager Ubi Franklin has blasted music producer Samklef for mocking Davido following his loss at the 67th Annual GRAMMY Awards held on February 2, 2025, in Los Angeles.
Samklef took to his X page to mock Davido’s loss, suggesting that the internet would have been abuzz had Davido won the award.
Samklef went further to express his satisfaction with the Grammy’s lack of “bribery,” stating, “Thank God say dem no dey bribe for Grammy—if not, we for no hear word today! At the end of the day, money can’t save you if you don’t have real talent. Tems won because she’s truly gifted. Now she has the house, the private jet, the expensive cars—but no unnecessary show-off. Just pure talent.”
This comment did not sit well with Ubi Franklin, who quickly responded to Samklef.
In his response, Franklin pointed out that Davido was not the only artist to have lost a nomination, emphasizing that other artists, including Burna Boy and Wizkid, were likely not bothered by the outcome.
“Samklef you actually need to stop this please, David is not the first person who has gotten nominated and hasn’t won yet. Chris Brown after 25 nominations only got two,” Franklin wrote, expressing his frustration. “Stop dragging David into your continuous disrespectful commentary. I am very certain Burna and Wiz aren’t even bothered about the outcome yesterday at the Grammy. I have spoken to you in private as my friend, you need to actually stop this rubbish you have been doing, please stop.”
Ubi Franklin’s strong words underscore the growing tension between some industry figures following the Grammy Awards and the ongoing rivalry between Nigerian artists.
