Tottenham set to pay £10m compensation fee to appoint Thomas Frank as Spurs close in on Brentford boss

Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur are on the verge of naming Brentford boss Thomas Frank as their new head coach following the dismissal of Ange Postecoglou.
According to The Telegraph, Spurs will need to pay a compensation fee of £10 million to secure Frank’s release from his contract at Brentford.
Talks between both London clubs reportedly progressed over the weekend, with Brentford standing firm on their valuation of the Danish tactician, who is widely credited for transforming the Bees into a competitive Premier League outfit.
Frank, who guided Brentford to top-flight promotion and has built a reputation for making his side a tough nut to crack, is said to be open to the switch.
Sources close to the situation claim the 51-year-old is keen on the opportunity and is already eyeing a move with his full backroom staff to North London if an agreement is reached.
Despite Brentford’s progress under Frank, the Bees have managed just one victory over Tottenham in their last nine meetings — a 3-1 triumph in May 2023, thanks to a brace from Bryan Mbeumo.
Spurs, who won the UEFA Europa League under Postecoglou but finished a disappointing 17th in the Premier League, are eager to steady the ship with a fresh managerial direction.
Frank is seen as a strategic fit for the club’s long-term ambitions, particularly given his ability to develop talent and implement a disciplined style of play.
With the summer transfer window heating up, Tottenham are looking to finalise the appointment quickly to avoid falling behind rivals already active in the market.
