Tottenham weighing up decision on Antonio Conte future.
Tottenham club hierarchy are yet to come to a decision on Antonio Conte future following his extraordinary post-match outburst on Saturday.
Conte berated his players, calling them “selfish” and deserving of “excuses,” as well as the club’s legacy, during the ferocious 10-minute diatribe that followed Tottenham’s sluggish 3-3 draw with Southampton.
‘They don’t want to play under pressure, they don’t want to play under stress. It is easy in this way,’ the Italian manager said.
‘Tottenham’s story is this. Twenty years there is the owner and they never won something but why?’
Yet according to sources in The Telegraph, following the contentious news conference, Conte told chairman Daniel Levy, who was there at the game, that he had not targeted the club or its owners.
As a result, Levy is reportedly talking with “some of his closest confidants” about the situation and hasn’t made up his mind on the manager’s future with the team.
It is anticipated that Ryan Mason would be reinstated as interim manager of the north London club should Conte be sacked.

After José Mourinho was fired from his position as manager of Tottenham during the 2020–21 season, Mason took over as manager for seven games, including the club’s Carabao Cup final match against Manchester City.
The decision to fire Mourinho five days before Spurs’ first championship game since their Champions League match against Liverpool in 2019 sparked debate at the time, and the squad ultimately fell short by a score of 1-0.
The troubled team is presently fourth in the Premier League, but Newcastle and Liverpool, who are in fifth place and have a game in hand, may still put pressure on their ranking.
Brighton, who is now in eighth place but is tied with Liverpool in terms of points, has three games against Tottenham remaining.
Spurs won’t play next until April 3 due to the international break, giving Levy some time to decide whether to stick with the unpredictable manager or hire someone else to change things up until the conclusion of the season.
Given that some of the Tottenham team would be glad to see their manager sacked because of his statements, Conte’s players will be watching his decision with some interest.
Levy is reportedly considering whether his manager will still be able to inspire his squad after the abrupt outburst that directly criticized the players.
Although the manager’s worries may have been somewhat justified in private, it’s likely that their outspoken statement might have dampened morale in the locker room.
At the conclusion of the current campaign, Conte’s contract with Tottenham is set to expire.
