As soon as Guglielmo Vicario completes his transfer from Empoli, Tottenham Hotspur confirmed that the player will be wearing the No. 13 jersey.
The goalkeeper, who joined Spurs for £17 million, has agreed to a five-year contract, which might allow Hugo Lloris to depart the team after more than a decade there.
It follows Tottenham’s announcement earlier this month that Dejan Kulusevski, who had previously spent 18 months on loan in north London, had been signed to a permanent contract worth £25 million.
Vicario, who is 26 years old, will don the No. 13 jersey because Lloris is still the club’s undisputed No. 1 goalie.
Michel Vorm was the last Spurs player to own that squad number, before his departure three years ago. Marton Fulop and Kasey Keller are among the other goalkeepers to have worn the No13, while Danny Murphy also had it on his back while at the club.
Although Roberto Mancini called up Vicario to the national squad last year for Nations League games against England and Hungary, Vicario has yet to make his senior debut for Italy.
