Tottenham confirm the signing of Pedro Porro.
Tottenham Hotspur have completed the £42million signing of Pedro Porro after an agreement was finally reached with Sporting Lisbon.
Tottenham’s first priority for the January transfer window has been Porro, but the deal appeared to be in jeopardy on Monday after the Portuguese side pulled off talks after a medical appointment had been scheduled.
On Monday night, negotiations were restarted with Sporting requesting Spurs to forgo a portion of their sell-on for winger Marcus Edwards in exchange for a price increase from £39 million to £42 million. Antonio Conte had made clear his desire for an additional right-back this month, and he has got his wish – albeit at the eleventh hour.

Porro’s arrival – which was all but confirmed by the player earlier on Tuesday – has caused a chain reaction of transfers around the continent. Barcelona full-back Hector Bellerin, once of North London rivals Arsenal, looks set to fill the vacant spot left in Sporting’s back line.
At Spurs, meanwhile, youngster Djed Spence completed a loan move to Ligue 1 side Rennes, while fellow full-back Matt Doherty is on his way to Atletico Madrid until the end of the season.
Speaking on Monday following the news that a deal had been struck, Porro said: “I’m grateful to Sporting, I love the club.
“I didn’t train as I was only focused on the transfer to Spurs but I will always be thankful to the club.”
The full-back might make his competitive debut under Conte if the Spaniard signs with plenty of time to settle in before Spurs’ important Premier League game against Manchester City on Sunday.
