Burna Boy’s YouTube channel may be not have close to a billion views, like Davido’s or even a third of it, like Wizkid’s, but he’s still one of the hottest this industry has ever heard. And that reflect on no only hi bank account, but also on he streaming numbers. Numbers they say, don’t lie.
The Port-Harcourt artist, who does Afro-fusion, has not only amassed a huge fan base, here, he has also managed to capture the attention of fans, from the overseas – UK, America, name it. At some point, man was even collaborating with World Famous, Drake.
In the past year, he’s gone up the ranks to be one of the biggest artistes out here, ranking with the two biggest African pop stars, Wizkid and Davido. He sure gave everyone a run for their money, yeah. YouTube can’t deny. On his channel alone, he has just 133K subscribers, but a whooping combined 116M views. Well, which of his hits have the highest views, in descending order.
DON GORGON – 1.4M
In 2019, Burna is the face of Afro-beat, but really back in 2014, he was the ‘next rated dance hall guy’ with good vibes. Even back then, he knew his onions well, and certainly does know how to get people to listen to him. Today, many A-List artiste, barely ever cross the 1M views mark, on YouTube. But, Burna still managed to pull off a milli and half, in 2014.
YAWA DEY – 2.2M
https://youtu.be/0O0tJQxZeWw
This was even about a year before “Don Gorgon”, but Burna hasn’t ever been on a low. He’s been blowing hot, right from his early days. “Yawa Dey” which appeared on his 2013 album, “L.I.F.E” even got a City People Entertainment Awards nomination for Street Hop Song of the Year.
You probably don’t need to be told how much the song banged the streets.
DÉJÀ VU – 2.3M
Late 2017, Burna Boy released two new singles, “Déjà vu” and “Gba.” Both were big nationwide hits, and Déjà vu did rake in 2.3M views for the pop-star. Burna can also do a song for the ladies, and also make his VEVO pay more, at the same time. Don’t you think?
HALLELUJAH – 2.9M
Killbeatz produced the track for Burna, as the dancehall kingpin goes ‘churchy’ on this one. Doesn’t matter, right? Burna would just do anything and people will watch and listen. I bet that’s right, but I’m thinking a lot of Christians liked this jam. After all, you don’t just get 2M views, if you aren’t game.
DANGOTE – 4.8M
“Dangote” is his latest banger, and in just three months, it’s already one of most-viewed. Who knows, it may be topping this list, any time from now. So far, seems it’s the biggest hit of 2019 yet. Fingers crossed, by the way,
SOKE – 5.9M
Arguably the biggest jam Burna has ever made, he didn’t only sample Fela, he also talked of Socio-political issues, on an Afro-beat! “Soke” instantly became an Anthem, all over the country. It was on his “On A Spaceship” album, in 2015.
ROCK YOUR BODY – 8.1M
“Outside” was an exceptional project, to say the least. Everything from it was a hit. So there’s an explanation as to why “Rock Your Body” over eight million in views, on YouTube. It’s from “Outside’ and it was produced by Juls. You often don’t need more to do wonders with the numbers.
GBONA – 17M
Last year really paid off for Burna Boy, and “Gbona” just exploded, bursting all our speakers, on the streets, in our cars, on all of our playlists. Nobody could resist watching the video, and that’s how we arrived at 17M+ views. (And counting!)
YE – 21M
“Ye” got him the Artiste Of The Year Award, over Wizkid. That’s all you need to hear. Twenty-one million? Not bad. Considering “Soco” currently has forty-one million.
ON THE LOW – 32M
Something just goes right when he sings about his love interest. The magic has worked for him, countless times (Tonight, Rock Your Body, Déjà vu etc.) “On The Low” is officially his most viewed video on YouTube, currently sitting at 32M views. Know what else has thirty million views? Wizkid’s Ojuelegba!
Meanwhile, ‘Killing Dem’ which has 7M views isn’t included in this list. First, because it’s a collaboration. And two, cause it’s hard to say who has the song between Burna and Zlatan Ibile. The official video reads “Zlatan Ibile ft, Burna Boy…”
