Tiwa Savage opened up on how being a woman in the music industry has been difficult and how sexism plays a major role in how an artist is being treated.
During her conversation with Ebuka, Tiwa Savage spoke about how male artists are given more publicity than her even when she does the same thing as them.
“Sometimes I would do something and a male artist would do the same thing but everybody would carry that. For instance, Fallon or Tiny Desk and if another male artist does it, everybody would be like wow and then when I do it, I don’t feel its get the same mileage, maybe I am wrong but that’s how I feel”.
She also lamented how her motherhood is being used as a weapon against her whenever she wants to have fun
“Or when I do a tattoo and they are like, how can you do that? While other male artists have like all the neck is covered in tattoos.

Or they would say, Tiwa can’t do this, you can’t go out and get drunk, you are a mother. But most male artists are fathers, multiple, more kids than I have.”
