On August 22, 2021, Nigerian superstar Tiwa Savage shared a video of the moment she heard American singer Brandy’s vocals on one of her new EP’s songs.
Tiwa Savage shared a video of herself and Brandy listening to their EP song together before the latter’s vocals came in.
The song, which documents a woman’s yearning for love and the warmth of romance after years of heartbreak, resonates with the personal heartbreak that Brandy and Tiwa Savage have both experienced.
Brandy sang the song in Yoruba and did so with finesse, as one would expect.
Sharing the video of herself listening to Brandy’s vocals on their new song, the former Mavin Records first lady wrote;
“Reaction video when I heard @brandy vocals first time ????????♀️ This songgggg WOW, it hits me like it’s a gospel song Link in my bio”
Tiwa Savage’s star-studded project Water & Garri, which we’ve been anticipating for months, was released on Friday.
The fierce diva brought her A-game to the new project, which featured two of America’s music industry’s biggest names, Brandy and NAS as well as Nigerian/Ghanaian up-and-comers Amaarae and Tay Iwar.

During a recent interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, Savage revealed that Brandy is her idol.
“Brandy is literally the reason why I started singing, literally. As a kid, just listening to I Want To Be Down, every interview I’ve ever had, she’s my favorite, my all time, my mentor, everything. And I’ve been trying to work with her for years. It was a dream of mine.
“And when it happened this time, it’s not even just music, we connected like sisters. She’s someone that I speak to literally every other day. It’s beyond my expectation.”
‘Somebody’s Son‘ looks is a track from Savage’s newly released EP, Water and Garri.
