Popular Nigerian rapper Zlatan Ibile has come out to shut down a viral claim suggesting he referred to his partner, Davita Lamai, as merely his “baby mama” and not his wife.
The controversy began after a Snapchat exchange circulated online on January 27, 2026, sparking widespread reactions. In the viral screenshot, a Snapchat user identified as Olohitare was seen asking, “I hope your wife is doing fine, sir?”
A response from what appeared to be Zlatan’s account followed, stating, “She is the mother of my kids but she is not my wife yet. She is fine.”
However, Zlatan has since clarified that the exchange did not originate from him.
Taking to his official X (formerly Twitter) page, the rapper firmly denied ever making such a statement, insisting that the Snapchat conversation was completely fabricated.
He emphasized that he never posted anything of the sort on his Snapchat account and warned fans to be more cautious about engaging with unverified content online.
Addressing the situation directly, Zlatan wrote:
“Y’all know I hate to shalaye But if you’re still one of those who can’t differentiate or confirm before you engage an agenda post in 2026 !! You don’t deserve to have internet on your phone !! THIS IS FAKE !!! banger boy your time is coming soon.”
He further urged social media users to be mindful of fake accounts and misleading narratives, stressing the importance of verifying posts before reacting or sharing.
Meanwhile, the page responsible for spreading the false story has reportedly issued an apology, bringing some closure to the situation as Zlatan clears his name from the rumour.
