    “We have come a long way”; these were the exact remarks Wizkid made after his performance with his longtime music friend and colleague, Olamide, at the Livespot X festival, that took place on the 19th December 2021.

    Mp3bullet.ng takes a toll on the untold relationship between the legendary Afrobeat star, Wizkid, and rapper cum singer, Olamide.

    Dating back to when Wizkid and Olamide started gaining momentum in their respective music careers, between 2009 and 2010, there was a certain connection between both artistes that made them the highlight of the ideal industry ‘friendship’.

    Both dominated different genres and supportively saw to the promotion of each other’s careers.

    In 2011, their friendship solidified when Olamide employed Wizkid’s vocals on “Omo To Shan” – the delivery was topnotch and can comfortably sit as one of the Olamide’s best collaborative track.

    More closure ensued from both singers, sparking rumours of the singers being ‘besties’.

    However, In 2012, Olamide, in an interview with All Africa cleared the air on his relationship with his counterpart.

    “We’re still good friends after the song we did together. But honestly speaking, Wizkid and I are not that close; we are just colleagues and we have this professional friendship that goes on. I won’t come here and start flaunting him as my very good friend”, he said.

    The untold relationship between Wizkid & OlamideGradually, both parted like they have not known each other, although benevolent of each other’s music, till Olamide called for another collabo in 2015 (Confam Ni).

    Like their previous engagement, Olamide and Wizkid made headlines with the street buzz, giving their fans another super collaboration.

    In 2018, another impressive feature came from the two, as baddo tagged Wizzy on his Kana vibe. This makes it a third collaboration between the two.

    As a matter of fact, in that same year, both singers had their headline shows on the same day, with Wizkid still making out time to perform at Olamide’s show after his own concert.

    When asked about how he felt, having his show on the same day with Wizkid’s, Olamide said;

    “I believe the sky is big enough for all birds to fly without touching each other. I honestly don’t feel there will be any negative effect.”

    The reason this became a grave concern for Olamide’s fans was because of the soaring career of his counterpart; being the hottest Nigerian artiste at that time.

    A year later, the legendary ID Cabasa featured both artistes on his Totori sensation – a great comeback for the duo’s relationship!

    Despite being friends for over a decade, Wizkid is yet to have Olamide as a feature on any of his tracks – making his mode of friendship questionable.

    As it seems, Olamide is less concerned about that, as he is more focused on making good music with his long-time friend.

    In conclusion, Olamide and Wizkid have had a healthy relationship as artistes despite their engagements in different genres. Their relationship has fostered steady growth in the industry, causing the love between Afrobeat & hip-hop to evolve immensely.

    Further, their bond took a toll on a brotherly vibe; not necessarily seen together, but having each other at heart always! It is so awesome to know we have beautiful sensations who have ruled a decade and more without beef.
