Tems has dropped the trailer for ‘Born in the Wild’ her upcoming album
After much anticipation and years of speculation, Tems has finally unveiled the title and release date for her debut album. The announcement comes on the heels of her performance of a track from the album, which samples the 90s classic “Love Me Jeje.”
On April 15, 2024, Grammy Award-winning artist Tems took to social media to reveal the title of her highly anticipated debut album through a captivating video announcement. The album, titled “Born in the Wild,” is set to be released in May 2024.
Tems had previously mentioned to Billboard Magazine during her Women in Music award that her album was “a 1000% ready.” Additionally, she hosted an exclusive listening party for industry insiders. The announcement video features nostalgic glimpses of Lagos life, Tems’ birthplace, while her melodic voice sings the title track in the background.
The video seamlessly transitions between scenes of a younger Tems and her present self, echoing the lyrics, “I was born in the wilderness.” It portrays Tems’ upbringing in the suburbs of Lagos, depicting her humble home with her mother in the kitchen. The video also teases a track titled “Born in the Wild,” potentially the flagship song of the album.
