Tems breaks the record for biggest streaming day for a female Nigerian artist in Spotify history
Nigerian R&B singer Tems has set a remarkable milestone with the release of her debut studio album, “Born in the Wild.” On June 7, 2024, the album’s 18 tracks, featuring singles like “Love Me JeJe” and “Me & U,” along with collaborations with J. Cole and Asake, were released to widespread acclaim.
According to Chart Data, Tems has broken the record for the biggest streaming day for a female Nigerian artist in Spotify history. She achieved over 8.028 million streams on the album’s release day, marking the highest streaming day ever for a female Nigerian artist on the platform.
This impressive feat underscores the anticipation and enthusiasm surrounding her debut project, which has been in the making for three years since her rise to stardom in the fall of 2020.
In addition to her record-breaking streaming success, Tems is set to embark on her ‘Born In The Wild World Tour‘ starting June 12 in London.
The tour will span multiple continents, including Europe, North America, Africa, and Australia, concluding on November 15 in Sydney, Australia. Tickets for all dates are currently available for purchase, promising an exciting journey for fans eager to experience her live performances.
Tems’ achievement on Spotify not only highlights her growing influence in the music industry but also sets a new standard for female Nigerian artists on the global stage.
The album marks Tems’ first major release in three years, following her EP ‘If Orange Was a Place.’ During this time, she won a Grammy for her contribution to Future’s “WAIT FOR U” and landed writing credits on works for Rihanna and Beyoncé.
