Tems sets new record on Billboard’s R&B/Hip Hop Airplay Chart.
Nigerian sensation Award-winning artist Temilade Openiyi, known professionally as Tems, has hit a new female milestone on Billboard’s R&B/Hip Hop Airplay Chart.
Tems is one of Africa’s most popular musicians on a global scale, with her music becoming a mainstream hit in the United Kingdom and the United States.
The R&B singer has made history by having the longest-running No. 1 single by a female artist on the Billboard R&B/Hip Hop Airplay Chart.
The singer has surpassed previous marks established by American megastars such as Beyonce and Rihanna.
Tems has achieved enormous success in the UK and the US after breaking into the worldwide stage with her talents to Wizkid’s blockbuster hit album ‘Essence’.
Her smash tune ‘Free Mind‘ appeared on the Billboard Hot 100 for several weeks and was certified platinum by the RIAA.
Tems has collaborated with Drake, Future, and Beyonce, as well as composing for Rihanna.

She is the first female artist from Nigeria to win a BET award, and she is the first artist from Nigeria to win two BET awards in one night. When she won the Best Melodic Rap Performance Grammy at the 2022 Grammys for her contribution to Future’s song “Wait for U,” she also made history as the first female Afrobeats artist to do so.
Tems is the first artist from Nigeria to be nominated for an Oscar for her work on the song “Lift Me Up,” which is featured on the “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” soundtrack.
