During an interview with Wazobia TV, the veteran singer stated that, in his view, the country is in a better place now compared to the past.

2Baba went on to describe himself as a self-appointed ambassador of Nigeria, explaining that he is committed to representing the country positively on the global stage and contributing, in his own way, to its progress.

“We are better off than many years ago. Just look at it. It’s still ongoing, but I will continue doing it. I will set up my own position and try to make a difference. I’ll try to make it work because I know where I stand. I have personally appointed myself as an ambassador of Nigeria an ambassador everywhere, I am a self-appointed ambassador of Nigeria to everywhere,” he stated.

However, his comments have drawn criticism from many Nigerians online, with some arguing that his statement does not reflect the current realities of insecurity and economic hardship facing the country.

Legendary Nigerian singer Innocent Idibia, famously known as 2Baba, and his wife, Natasha Osawaru, have quietly celebrated a special milestone: the dedication of their first child.

2Baba and Wife Natasha Celebrate Child’s Dedication in Church

The intimate ceremony took place in a private church setting, away from the usual spotlight that follows the music icon. However, photos and short video clips that later surfaced online showed the couple dressed elegantly, cradling their newborn as they made their way to the altar for prayers.

It was a close-knit family affair. 2Baba’s mother, Rose Idibia, was present, alongside church priests who officiated the blessing. The atmosphere appeared calm, heartfelt, and deeply personal, a moment centered on faith and family rather than fanfare.

Back in November, reports emerged that the couple had welcomed their first child together, though they chose not to reveal the baby’s gender, keeping that detail private and leaving fans curious.

The child’s dedication comes several months after 2Baba and Natasha officially tied the knot in a low-key traditional wedding on July 25th, 2025. The ceremony was attended by a small circle of loved ones, including the singer’s parents, reflecting the couple’s preference for keeping major life events intimate.

Earlier in December, during one of his concerts, 2Baba had publicly apologized to Nigerians over past controversies involving him and his family, asking for forgiveness and understanding. That emotional moment seems to have marked a period of reflection for the veteran artist.

Following news of the baby’s dedication, fans flooded social media with congratulatory messages. Many applauded the couple for protecting their privacy while still allowing supporters to share in their joy through carefully released glimpses of the day.

For 2Baba and Natasha, the dedication represents more than just a ceremony; it’s another chapter in a journey that blends public life with personal growth, as they continue building their family away from the noise.

Music icon Innocent Idibia, better known to the world as 2Baba, has spoken candidly about one of the labels that has followed him for years.

2baba reveals the biggest misconception about him

In a recent interview with Voice of Nigeria, the legendary singer addressed the long-standing “womaniser” narrative that has trailed his career and personal life. According to him, that description misses the mark entirely.

“The biggest misconception about me is that I’m a womanizer,” the singer stated.

Rather than accepting the tag, 2Baba offered a different perspective on who he believes he truly is.

“I like women; I’m just straightforward. But I’m a lover boy. I love hard.”

For the award-winning artist, the issue, he suggested, stems from how his openness has been interpreted.

Over the years, his relationships have played out publicly, often sparking debate across social media. But 2Baba implied that being honest about his emotions instead of hiding them may have shaped the public’s perception of him.

Beyond the headlines and online chatter, the conversation turned more personal when he spoke about his children. Now a father of eight, 2Baba’s tone reportedly shifted as he reflected on fatherhood.

He expressed pride in how bright and promising his children are, yet admitted to carrying a quiet regret about not being able to spend enough time with them all together.

It was a rare, reflective moment from a man whose music has defined generations, this time not through lyrics, but through vulnerability.

My dream of going into politics is still alive—2Baba

The music icon made this known during a recent appearance on The Mic On podcast hosted by Channels TV journalist Seun Okinbaloye, in a video released on Saturday evening.

When asked directly whether his earlier political ambition was still alive, 2Baba answered without hesitation, tying his interest to years of active civic engagement.

“It’s definitely alive, but for me, I’ve always been, how do I put it, I dey participate for the thing, For over so many years, I spearheaded a campaign called ‘Vote No Fight’, and we saw some results at least we didn’t solve the whole problem, but at least helped to sensitize a whole lot of people and we made them to cooperate and behave themselves during elections and I think we need to amplify it more. We need to really be very, very grassroots engagement; it goes a long way. We still see pockets of violence here and there, but at least it is reduced greatly, and we just hope to keep reducing it like that till, I mean, we get a near-perfect type of situation.”

The conversation then took a more pointed turn as Seun asked whether Nigerians should be expecting “Senator Innocent Edibia” or “Governor Innocent Edibia” anytime soon. In response, the singer chose his words carefully.

“I would say let’s keep our fingers crossed on that,” he said.

On the question of whether he might eventually contest Lagos or Benue, 2Baba revealed that he is already involved in governance in an official capacity, having accepted a government appointment.

“Okay, right now, last year, My Excellency appointed me as Technical Advisor. It’s something that I really respect, and I gladly accepted to be part of that. For me, it’s to get that space and then try to do something to contribute something to nation-building, to state-building. That is what I’m about right now. I have appointed myself personally as Nigerian Ambassador everywhere. So, in that light, for me, I just want to be able to, even if it’s 1% of change, 1% of contribution to this country, that is where my head is at, that is where my heart is at. So, to answer your question, we’ll fit run am.”

Clarifying his political alignment, the African Queen crooner stated that he is not a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) but acknowledged that his partner is actively involved in politics.

“But my woman right now is a politician. Honourable Natasha. She’s doing quite well.”

Speaking further on her progress, he added, “She’s good. So, at least, from now on, we will try to do more. They say nah Small, small drop of water dey make ocean.”

2Baba’s renewed comments revive a conversation he first sparked years ago. In April 2018, he told journalists in Lagos that he was preparing to run for political office, stressing that it was time for well-meaning Nigerians to step into governance.

Although he did not disclose the position or political platform at the time, he emphasized the need for patriotic citizens to get involved in shaping the country’s future.

More recently, in April 2025, Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia appointed the singer as Technical Adviser on Entertainment and Community Outreach. The appointment was announced at the Government House in Makurdi when 2Baba paid the governor a sympathy visit following deadly attacks in parts of the state.

Governor Alia described the singer as a worthy ambassador of Benue State and expressed confidence in his ability to channel his global influence toward meaningful development.

2Baba, who also serves as a Goodwill Ambassador to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, reiterated during that visit his commitment to humanitarian work, particularly in supporting displaced persons through his foundation.

Veteran Nigerian singer Innocent Idibia, famously known as 2Baba, has weighed in on one of Afrobeats’ most debated conversations, and his answer is already stirring reactions.

The African Queen hitmaker shared his thoughts during a recent appearance on The Mic On Podcast, hosted by Channels TV journalist Seun Okinbaloye. During the chat, Seun decided to put the music legend on the spot, asking him to choose the best among Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido.

Seun asked, “2Baba let me put you on the spot and you are generation ahead of these folks, Burna Boy, Wizkid and Davido, if you are to chose one of the music of these artistes which one will you choose?”

Caught in a tricky but familiar dilemma, 2Baba first acknowledged the consistency and excellence of all three stars, noting that he enjoys different songs from each of them. Still, after a bit of pressure, the veteran singer eventually made his pick.

“I have my favourite songs from all of them, but if I’m put on the spot, I think Burna is on top of the game right now, with all due respect to everybody.”

When Seun followed up by asking whether his decision was based on talent, artistry, or delivery, 2Baba took a step back to explain his perspective.

According to him, ranking artists purely by artistry is never straightforward, as every musician operates within their own unique sound and creative space. He also pointed out that music taste ultimately depends on the listener.

The singer was quick to clarify that his choice had nothing to do with money or commercial success. He admitted he had no insight into the artists’ earnings and wasn’t speaking from that angle at all. Instead, he said his opinion was shaped by general industry awareness and overall impact.

In his words:

“Artistry, like I said earlier, different people have different styles, so every artistes is a major in his field, so there is nothing like one signs better than the other, art is an individual one , each song is a different thing, if an artist does this painting now, the next one he will paint will be different, so that is how I see it, and different people will have different taste of what they want and like but I am going into a general aspect of this.

I don’t know their bank accounts, I don’t have any information about their personal successes, I can speak on that but from what I can measure from at least common sense and unserstanding of the music world, I think right now Burna Boy is on top of this chain not just in Nigeria, in Africa and in the world but everybody is fantastically well.”

While his comments may fuel fresh debates online, 2Baba’s message was clear: all three stars are thriving, but in his view, Burna Boy currently holds the edge on the global stage.

In a recent conversation on the Mic On podcast, the Afrobeats icon admitted that emotional pressure played a major role in some of the toughest moments of his life.

Looking back, 2Baba said experience has taught him powerful lessons, and if given another chance, certain decisions would be approached with more care.

“There are so many things I wish I could rewind and do better,” 2Baba said, explaining how emotional strain can easily cloud judgment.

“As a human being, there are times when you are overwhelmed or don’t make the best decisions.”

The singer also revisited the controversial incident in London in October 2025, which involved a disagreement with his wife, Natasha Osawaru, and ultimately led to his arrest.

Speaking openly about the episode, 2Baba took full responsibility, admitting that anger influenced his actions and describing the situation as an unfortunate moment in his life.

“I was angry that day,” he said, adding that dealing with personal struggles while constantly in the public eye has not always been easy.

Beyond the incident, the father of eight reflected on his role as a parent, acknowledging that he hasn’t been as present as he would like. He emphasized the importance of fatherhood and expressed a strong desire to do better moving forward.

“I have not been the best daddy. I want to do more,” the singer said, while stressing his preference to keep his family life away from public scrutiny.

According to 2Baba, these experiences have pushed him into a more reflective phase, helping him better understand accountability, emotional control, and the ongoing journey of personal growth.

The award-winning artist made this known during a recent episode of the Mic On podcast, hosted by Seun Okinbaoye, where he also touched on personal issues, including challenges in his marriage to Natasha and the viral London incident that led to his temporary arrest.

Addressing the much-talked-about Fela vs Wizkid comparison, a debate that has drawn reactions from Seun Kuti, Yeni Kuti, Femi Kuti, Wizkid’s fanbase, and the wider Nigerian music community, 2Baba did not mince words.

While acknowledging Wizkid’s massive achievements and global success, the music icon stressed that it is unfair to place the modern-day star alongside Fela, whose influence and contributions to Nigerian music and global Afrobeat remain unmatched.

“It is ridiculous and disrespectful to compare Fela with Wizkid. Also, it is unfair to Wizkid to compare him with Fela,” 2Baba stated.

According to him, both artists belong to different eras, and while Wizkid is carving out an impressive legacy of his own, Fela Kuti’s impact transcends generations and should be treated with the reverence it deserves.

Veteran Nigerian music star Innocent Idibia, fondly known as 2Baba, has opened up about a turning point in his personal journey, revealing that he has deliberately chosen to move away from certain aspects of his past and embrace change.

The singer made the heartfelt admission in Benin City, just moments before taking the stage at the MC EdoPikin Undiluted with StarBoy and Legends show.

His brief but reflective address to the audience immediately caught attention, both inside the venue and across social media, as it touched on long-running public discussions about his private life.

Speaking with noticeable sincerity, 2Baba explained that his decision to speak out was rooted in honesty and self-awareness.

He noted that personal growth and deep reflection had shaped his outlook, pushing him to live more responsibly and intentionally at this stage of his life.

The African Queen crooner also made it clear that his choice to address the issue publicly was not influenced by external pressure.

Rather, he said it was about correcting misconceptions, owning his story, and showing that growth is possible when one is willing to learn from past mistakes.

“I have stopped giving woman belle, I’m a changed man and I’m innocent. I have many things to say but I won’t entertain internet people.”

For over two decades, 2Baba has remained one of Nigeria’s most respected and influential musicians, not only for his timeless music but also for his vocal stance on social issues and humanitarian causes.
Since the event, fans and observers have continued to react positively, praising his openness and maturity. Many have described his remarks as a reminder that personal transformation is a journey, even for public figures constantly under the spotlight.

2Baba Explains Why No Artist Is Truly Wack

In a recent video message that has since gone viral, the music icon explained that every song is created with the intention of evoking emotion and connecting with a particular audience.

According to him, music should not be judged solely by mainstream popularity or personal taste, as artists create with different purposes and listeners in mind.

2Baba noted that the success or failure of a song often has little to do with artistic quality alone. Instead, he emphasized that promotion, branding, and strategic positioning play a much bigger role in determining how widely a song is received.

“Every song is created to spark a feeling or set a particular mood,” he said. “There is really nothing like a wack artist. What people call ‘wack’ is often just music that doesn’t appeal to them personally.”

The award-winning singer further explained that many artists who are frequently dismissed by critics still enjoy massive commercial success because they understand how to connect with their audience and market their work effectively.

“Some people may not rate certain artists musically, yet those same artists are making a lot of money and selling out shows,” he added. “That’s because they understand how the business works. Talent alone is not enough.”

2Baba also stressed that no piece of music can appeal to everyone, regardless of how well-produced or meaningful it may be. According to him, listeners connect with music differently, and artists must accept that not everyone will resonate with their sound.

“There’s no song that everybody will love,” he said. “What matters is finding your audience and staying true to your sound. Once people connect with what you do, that’s enough.”

His remarks have sparked conversations online, with many fans praising his perspective as honest, realistic, and reflective of his decades-long experience in the industry.

Others noted that his comments highlight the delicate balance between creativity, business, and audience appeal.

As one of Africa’s most respected music veterans, 2Baba continues to use his platform to share valuable insights on creativity, growth, and sustainability in the entertainment industry—reinforcing his legacy not just as an artist, but also as a mentor to younger musicians.

“Every music is tailored made and there is nothing like wack artiste. It is not just the art itself, it is the marketing of that art. There is no music that everybody likes, everything is narrowed down to the marketing, promotion and the business.”

2Baba has returned with a new offering titled Balling, a track that feels less like a typical release and more like a quiet announcement from a man who has earned the right to speak with his chest.

After decades at the summit of Nigerian music, every song he drops carries the weight of history, and Balling is no different. It isn’t an attempt to mimic the sounds dominating the younger generation.

2Baba Makes a Majestic Return With New Single “Balling”

Instead, it’s a calm, confident reminder that he’s still here, still blessed, and still very much in control. It’s the soundtrack of a legend reflecting on his journey while offering subtle wisdom about what true success really looks like.

The soundscape of Balling is classic 2Baba territory—smooth, soulful, and unhurried. The production leans into warm percussion, mellow basslines, and the type of sweet, melodic guitar riffs that instantly evoke nostalgia for the golden era of Nigerian music.

There’s no rush, no frantic energy, no attempt to compete with the adrenaline of street-pop. The song settles into a steady, graceful rhythm that mirrors the man behind the mic: seasoned, secure, and effortlessly elegant.

It’s the kind of music you play when you’re relaxing, reflecting, or simply appreciating the softness that comes with maturity.

In the lyrics, “Balling“ becomes a gentle declaration of peace, prosperity, and gratitude. When 2Baba sings about “balling,” it isn’t about flaunting excess or reckless spending. His version of balling is rooted in stability—having enough, being surrounded by good friends, and reaching a point in life where you can live comfortably without noise or chaos.

He acknowledges his blessings, the people around him, and the grace that carried him through his career. It’s celebratory, yes, but grounded in humility—the kind that has always made his songwriting resonate across generations.

For an artist like 2Baba, releasing new music is never about chasing viral moments. It’s about staying connected to the millions who grew up on his sound and reminding the industry of the foundation he laid.

Balling fits perfectly into that legacy. It may not explode on TikTok overnight, but it carries the kind of soul and staying power that has defined his music for years. It’s another chapter in the story of a man who continues to evolve without ever losing the essence that made him iconic in the first place.
