Ghanaian Afro-Dancehall star Livingstone Etse Satekla, popularly known as Stonebwoy, recently spoke about dealing with online attacks, attributing such criticisms to his success.

“Only successful people get attacked,” he stated, addressing the continuous criticisms, especially from fellow artist and ‘Ayoo‘ hitmaker Shatta Wale, who has been a frequent critic.

In his appearance on ‘Onua Showtime’ with Nana Ama McBrown, Stonebwoy discussed his approach to handling these tensions, explaining that he chooses to ignore negative comments and remain focused on his career goals. “What I do when I’m attacked as a musician is that I ignore the attacks and focus on the prize. I pray for divine discernment to know when to talk and when not to talk. What I know is that it is only a ripe fruit that will be plucked,” Stonebwoy shared on November 3, 2024.

Despite their public differences, Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale have not yet reconciled, and tensions between them remain unresolved.

In another recent interview that gained traction on social media, Stonebwoy revealed that many Ghanaians often mistake him for a Jamaican, due to his distinctive dancehall style and international collaborations.

“They think I’m from Jamaica in Ghana. Most of my people think that I’m foreign,” he remarked, highlighting the influence of his Jamaican-inspired music.

When asked to rate his fashion in the interview, Stonebwoy confidently replied, “No, we do 100, we don’t do 10,” describing his outfit in detail. Sporting high-end pieces, he stated, “Balenciaga’s, of course. The chrome Balenciaga hoodie. All plain virements from Paris. Flannel Homme, some Gucci. Jewellery from Just Frost London. That’s where everybody gets their stuff. Burna Boy, Wizkid, Asake, Patoranking, Adebayor, your footballers.”

Stonebwoy’s unique style and impactful presence in the dancehall scene continue to set him apart, both in Ghana and on the international stage.
