They deserve it – Skales weighs in on shooting of EFCC officer during raid

Nigerian singer Skales has stirred controversy with his remarks following the death of an Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) officer, who was shot during a recent raid.
In a series of posts shared on January 20, 2025, the singer expressed his lack of sympathy, citing a traumatic experience he and his family had with the EFCC in 2023. Skales suggested that the officer’s death was inevitable, given the EFCC’s approach to operations.
He wrote, “It’s quite unfortunate that someone lost his life, but they had it coming. Imagine the trauma my family and I still face till now.”
“I should be feeling bad, but I actually don’t. They had it coming. Imagine if I hadn’t kept my cool that day—they would have probably twisted the story and shot me or something. I will never forgive them… they had it coming,” he added.
That organization need to be scraped out or reformed but we all know there’s no such thing as reform in this country…I use to rate them but till I found out they use that organization to abuse power and extort young people of money

The singer specifically named an EFCC officer, “Mr. Femi,” whom he claimed was responsible for the trauma his family endured during a raid on his home in 2023.
“That Mr. Femi… I will never forget that night. I pray your family goes through worse than the trauma you put mine through. Mr. Femi of the EFCC, who came that day, I wish you a miserable life… you will suffer worse than what you put innocent people through.”

Skales recounted the disturbing experience, emphasizing the terror caused when EFCC officers broke into his home. “When they came to my house, they didn’t ask or knock; they just broke down the door. I’m not a fraudster, and my whole family was there, including my newborn.
Well when they came to my house they dint ask they dint knock they just broke the door and im not a fraudster plus my whole family was there with me including my new born … imagine being woken up with 4 ak47s and 3 sledge hammers like a gaddamn horror movie and all this because… https://t.co/6gmTUEvHE5

Imagine being woken up by four AK-47s and three sledgehammers, like a damn horror movie, all because they saw luxurious cars in front of my house. A corrupt agency trying to fight corruption… I will never forgive them… they deserve it.”
He went on to describe the lasting impact of the trauma, stating, “I still wake up every 4-6am to check outside my window to see if someone’s trying to break in. They act like criminals and scare the living daylights out of the innocent.
If you’ve never experienced them, you’ll never understand the scar and trauma they leave on you. And I’ve never committed such a crime in my life… so they had it coming. I don’t care.”

The EFCC has long faced criticism for its heavy-handed tactics during raids, with many describing its methods as excessive and invasive.
