Simisola Kosoko, better known as Simi, the Nigerian singer and songwriter, recently amused fans by playfully entertaining the idea of running for president of Nigeria.

In a humorous tone, the songstress jokingly urged her fellow Nigerians to promise to vote for her should she ever decide to pursue the country’s top leadership position.

Taking to her official Twitter account, Simi made this tongue-in-cheek remark amidst playful banter and trolling from other Africans, particularly Ghanaians and South Africans, following the Super Eagles’ loss in the 2023 AFCON.

Expressing frustration at being the target of criticism while defending her country amidst the banter, Simi humorously reflected on “taking bullets” for her patriotism amid the AFCON aftermath.

She issued a warning to Nigerians, saying; “Not me taking bullets for my country 😂😂😂😂😂. If I run for president , if dem born una well, no vote for me 😩”

Recall, Simi has bemoaned the hardships that the country’s common citizens face as a result of its struggling economy.

Simi voiced her outrage at the suffering of people in the nation on the microblogging site X.

The singer declared that something had to give before everything collapses.

In her words: “People are suffering. I don’t even know what to say. Something has to give before everything crumbles.”
